Starting from two fragments of Cioran’s Cahiers, this article aims to clarify Heidegger’s encounter with Freud in the first articles published by the Sibiu philosopher in the Romanian press at the beginning of the 1930s. This particular meeting took place in the experience of “Death of God” in Nietzsche and specially in the experience of death in life which constitutes, for the young Cioran, the revelation of the immense tragedy of life and the loss of innocence.

Abstract

Starting from two fragments of Cioran’s Cahiers, this article aims to clarify Heidegger’s encounter with Freud in the first articles published by the Sibiu philosopher in the Romanian press at the beginning of the 1930s. This particular meeting took place in the experience of “Death of God” in Nietzsche and specially in the experience of death in life which constitutes, for the young Cioran, the revelation of the immense tragedy of life and the loss of innocence.
