Since the incorporation of the Kingdom of Naples to the Catholic Monarchy of Spain, one of the sectors that attests clearly the new cultural tendencies is the printing. First of all, there is an editorial activity, not only in Naples but also in other cities, in Spanish language; in the second place, the action of the policy of the viceroyalty leaves an ideological mark also in the works written in Italian and Latin. This volume collects some element about neapolitan tipographical production of Hispanic interest between XVIth. and XVIIth centuries. In addition to a general description, there is a chapter dedicated to XVIth century in which it is analised a group of poetical and prose texts about the heroic deeds of Great Captain, Gonzalo Fernández de Córdoba, conqueror of the Kingdom. Another chapter about XVIth is concerned the funeral literature in honor of Philip II. Several chapters dedicated to XVIIth. century focus on editions of works in Spanish language of Spanish authors (Teresa de Avila) or Italian authors (Guido Bentivoglio, Tommaso Campanella), or about literary and tipographical activity in Naples during the governments of Lemos (1610-1616) and Osuna (1620).
