The theoretical debate about the intellectual dignity of the woman, promoted by the European diffusion of Humanism, is the base of slow process which has a confirmation in European literatures, in particular in Spain in some works of Renaissance. Several genders offer texts dedicated to famous women and especially in the mixed genders we can find works of this type. It’s not different the literature that focuses on eastern themes, in which it is frequent to find a curiosity about Islamic female world. The work focuses on the case of Solimano’s child, Mihrimâh, that is present in the Erasmian dialogue known as “Viaje de Turquía” (about 1557); infact, she is an important character of the plot. The literary portrait of Mihrimâh becomes an historical testimony of the Empire of the Great Door in the last years of the Kingdom of Solimano; it inherits the old classical and biblical tradition of powerful oriental women.
