In this paper the. A. analyses the contexts in which imperfective verbs occur in the narration of sequences of events from the point of view of temporal order. Occurrences drawn from the Czech National Corpus show that, in some cases, the events expressed by the perfective and the imperfective verb in coordination overlap, whereas, in other cases, they occur in strict sequentiality. Some consideration is made on the way the scheme /perfective + “a” + imperfective/ is used or interpreted when translating from Czech to French, Italian and English and vice versa.

Abstract
In this paper the. A. analyses the contexts in which imperfective verbs occur in the narration of sequences of events from the point of view of temporal order. Occurrences drawn from the Czech National Corpus show that, in some cases, the events expressed by the perfective and the imperfective verb in coordination overlap, whereas, in other cases, they occur in strict sequentiality. Some consideration is made on the way the scheme /perfective + “a” + imperfective/ is used or interpreted when translating from Czech to French, Italian and English and vice versa.File in questo prodotto:
