This paper examines a famous topos in Tibetan folk literature, the story of the trickster and its voyage through various cultures in ancient Eurasia from Greece to Tibet. By discussing the influence of orality on Tibetan written output and the transcultural dimension of Tibetan literary topoi, important issues are addressed that shed new light on our general understanding of Tibetan texts.

Abstract
