The goal of this volume is to open and advance discourses about Ibāḍī theology in order to understand further some of its specific issues. The volume contains most of the papers presented at the Conference on “Ibadi Theology. Rereading Sources and Scholarly Works” which was held at the University of Naples “L’Orientale” on 28th-30th May 2012. The main focus of the conference was an exploration of Ibāḍī theology, dealing with a series of cases from different periods and different sources and using an interdisciplinary approach. The lectures given at the conference and the resulting papers deal with a variety of topics, such as dogma and creed, the conception of faith, theological controversies, reassessment of theological sources, and Ibāḍī ‘modernism’ in last century Oman and North Africa.
