Euboean Imports in the Geometric Necropolis of Ialysos

This paper analyses the Euboean vases imported in the Geometric necropolis of Ialysos (Rhodes). Imports from Euboea were found in other sites of Rhodes. They show the full involvement of this island in the commerce established by Euboea with the Eastern Mediterranean, in association with the Phoenician and Cypriot traders acting on Rhodes and especially in relationship with the perfume production.

Il contributo prende in esame alcuni vasi importati dall'Eubea, rinvenuti nella necropoli geometrica di Ialysos a Rodi. A questi si aggiungono altre importazioni euboiche dagli altri centri di Rodi, datate all'VIII sec. a.C.. Esse dimostrano il pieno coinvolgimento da parte dell'isola nel commercio stabilito tra l'Eubea e il Mediterraneo orientale, in stretta connessione con i mercanti fenici e ciprioti attivi a Rodi, in particolare nella produzione dei profumi
