This article aims to shed light on the manifold prospect of Gunnar Ekelöf’s cultural experience in Paris during the 1920s. This experience was considered as producing a radical linguistic renewal of his poetry in the late ’20s and early ’30s. The multitude of pictorial, musical and literary experiments interplaying in the French capital at the time greatly stimulated and influenced his creativity, as they merged with a previous cultural background based on Oriental studies (Eastern religion and philosophy), mystics and mythology. By personally elaborating all this input, Ekelöf was able to produce an absolutely innovative and linguistically disruptive poetry that has left an enduring imprint in the literary production of later generations.

Abstract
This article aims to shed light on the manifold prospect of Gunnar Ekelöf’s cultural experience in Paris during the 1920s. This experience was considered as producing a radical linguistic renewal of his poetry in the late ’20s and early ’30s. The multitude of pictorial, musical and literary experiments interplaying in the French capital at the time greatly stimulated and influenced his creativity, as they merged with a previous cultural background based on Oriental studies (Eastern religion and philosophy), mystics and mythology. By personally elaborating all this input, Ekelöf was able to produce an absolutely innovative and linguistically disruptive poetry that has left an enduring imprint in the literary production of later generations.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
