The article deals with the iconographies representing the conception and birth of the ruler in Kush on the rings from the pyramid of queen Amanishakheto. The iconographies are traced back to Egyptian New Kingdom prototypes. Their meaning is discussed in the framework of the badly know historical setting of the mid-1st century ADin Kush. Apparently, at that time some elements may point to possible troubles in the succession to the Kushite throne, as well as to the introduction of ideological innovations in the Kushite kingship.

Abstract
