Through the analysis of various institutional texts in French and Italian, published by both states as well as by the European Union, the article proposes to examine the terminology of the new concepts related to photography. Particular attention is placed on names related to the profession (the photographer) and his products (photographic images). It has been examined if these changes have redefined the key terms in the field and which are the object of the present study. Our approach is primarily semasiological: we start from the identification of the names and move on to observe the current conceptual organization of photography in institutional texts.

Abstract

Through the analysis of various institutional texts in French and Italian, published by both states as well as by the European Union, the article proposes to examine the terminology of the new concepts related to photography. Particular attention is placed on names related to the profession (the photographer) and his products (photographic images). It has been examined if these changes have redefined the key terms in the field and which are the object of the present study. Our approach is primarily semasiological: we start from the identification of the names and move on to observe the current conceptual organization of photography in institutional texts.
