Abstract

Translating space into geometrical shapes, or drawing maps, is the way humanity designs its surrounding territory. These forms are determined by a sum of knowledge and hypothesis, of what has been already conquered and what is yet to conquer, by alternating fear and curiosity. This is the process that controls the geographic image of our world. Behind this process is a geography of the mind, that translates these approximations into certainty. The essay will analyze the relation between the sense of familiarity with the world and the evolution that forms of life have undergone with Modern anthropocentrism.
