The paper is an attempt to focus on the relationship of art and publicness and site-specificity applying concepts like ‘art in public’ (Mitchell), the notion of ‘public sphere’ as described by Hannah Arendt and the notion of 'construction of situations' (Guy Debord), in order to tackle with the problematics of site referred to installation art. Some case-studies taken from site-specific installation art of different genre (Airport interventions, Instant urbanism, a swamp) will be considered as displaying, alternatively, critical bio-power, environmental suggestions and 'momentary' monumentality.

Abstract
The paper is an attempt to focus on the relationship of art and publicness and site-specificity applying concepts like ‘art in public’ (Mitchell), the notion of ‘public sphere’ as described by Hannah Arendt and the notion of 'construction of situations' (Guy Debord), in order to tackle with the problematics of site referred to installation art. Some case-studies taken from site-specific installation art of different genre (Airport interventions, Instant urbanism, a swamp) will be considered as displaying, alternatively, critical bio-power, environmental suggestions and 'momentary' monumentality.File in questo prodotto:
