Introduction: Sociolinguistic and Dialectological Studies in Indonesia.

As a land with a vast array of linguistic phenomena and over 600 languages, Indonesia offers researchers a broad range of data resources, ranging from the island of Sumatra to the most eastern end of the Papua Island. This study represents an interesting contribution and reflection on the problem of multilingualism that shapes the linguistic landscape of Indonesia. Owing to its highly multicultural and multilingual nature, Indonesia is a fascinating and valuable laboratory for research on dialectology and sociolinguistics.
