The oral documents collected over several decades concerning the reconstruction of historical events of French colonization in Morocco at the beginning of the 20th century, constitute a precious testimony, especially in view of the absence or the scarcity of written sources. In this regard, the volume Oral Tradition and Amazigh Resistance in the Moroccan Atlas (1912-1936) by M. Peyron, published by the Berber Studies series edited by Harry Stroomer, contains a collection of partially unpublished texts in the Amazigh language collected by the author (some come from the Roux Fund). It constitutes a completely new look at the fights seen from the side of the Moroccan resistance fighters of Hautmont, also making the voice of the other heard, that of the dominated and the colonized, based on an oral tradition still alive today
