Right after the turning point of 9/ 11, Kathrin Röggla problematizes from several angles the media representation of upcoming disasters and state of emergency, as well as the resulting effects of collective panic and catastrophic fears: these can be read as peculiar symptoms of a latent crisis in today’s urban societies. The present paper explores Röggla’s disasterology across her fictional and essayistic works and eventually reflects on her personal elaboration of apocalyptic images in a brief comparison with cold- war German literature.

Abstract
Right after the turning point of 9/ 11, Kathrin Röggla problematizes from several angles the media representation of upcoming disasters and state of emergency, as well as the resulting effects of collective panic and catastrophic fears: these can be read as peculiar symptoms of a latent crisis in today’s urban societies. The present paper explores Röggla’s disasterology across her fictional and essayistic works and eventually reflects on her personal elaboration of apocalyptic images in a brief comparison with cold- war German literature.File in questo prodotto:
