In recent years, Chinese-European Theatre exchange reached unprecedented dimensions. However, research has only started to study some aspects. This article maps the whole spectrum of theatre exchange focusing on the aspect of "places". By describing exchange in the fields of independent theatres, academies and universities, places of music theatre, city and state theatres, it will be shown that Chinese-European theatre is no more limited to Beijing opera and state theatres. On the contrary, this is a complex infrastructure that is interwoven with many other fields. Eventually, it will be discussed which role theatre as infrastructure can have in intercultural dialogue.
