Abstract (p. 134) In 1905, the defector A.G. Matoš makes his first incognito journey to Zagreb, about which he will write a first travel story that will be re-elaborated and reprinted in the Vidici i putovi collection (Views and paths, 1907), with the title Kod kuće (At home). The text also includes a poem known with that same title. This is the first poem the author publishes in the Croatian štokavian literary language. Both the lyric and the prose text contain themes and motifs that will be developed in the author’s later works. The analysis of the poetic text is presented in the context of the travel story and of other Matošian writings of the same period, with particular regard to the theme of the landscape, central to the writer's work.
