This article aims to deal with an aspect of the general topic of Islamic philosophy's role in the history of philosophy, on which scholarship is focusing a wide debate. This article also develops some reflections on the historical consciousness of Islamic authors (like al-Fārābī), and the knowledge they had to enter into a debate started long before them in Greece. These issues are treated by discussing and commenting on some hermeneutical keys proposed by Leo Strauss, concerning in particular the classical and medieval political philosophy.

Abstract
This article aims to deal with an aspect of the general topic of Islamic philosophy's role in the history of philosophy, on which scholarship is focusing a wide debate. This article also develops some reflections on the historical consciousness of Islamic authors (like al-Fārābī), and the knowledge they had to enter into a debate started long before them in Greece. These issues are treated by discussing and commenting on some hermeneutical keys proposed by Leo Strauss, concerning in particular the classical and medieval political philosophy.File in questo prodotto:
