This article aims to highlight some postmodern aspects of Urmuz's Pagini bizare, a work that represents an absolute innovation in Romanian literature since it does not follow the literary rules of modernity of the early twentieth century. Parodying and putting together the philosophical, scientific and legal discourse, Urmuz brings forward a denunciation of modernity. In line with postmodern ideology, Urmuz indeed criticizes a modernity of the future, a future that he would never have lived. This criticism is clearly dystopian, in which mankind and technology are opposed in an attempt to rethink human nature itself, both physical and psychic, in relation to the surrounding environment, offering, at the same time, a new vision and a new and ontological knowledge of the human being.

Abstract
This article aims to highlight some postmodern aspects of Urmuz's Pagini bizare, a work that represents an absolute innovation in Romanian literature since it does not follow the literary rules of modernity of the early twentieth century. Parodying and putting together the philosophical, scientific and legal discourse, Urmuz brings forward a denunciation of modernity. In line with postmodern ideology, Urmuz indeed criticizes a modernity of the future, a future that he would never have lived. This criticism is clearly dystopian, in which mankind and technology are opposed in an attempt to rethink human nature itself, both physical and psychic, in relation to the surrounding environment, offering, at the same time, a new vision and a new and ontological knowledge of the human being.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
