The article offers a reflection about the historical relevance of the 15-year time period from the dismantling of Bretton Woods international monetary system through to the aftermath of Gorbacev Perestroika and the end of Soviet regime to make a case for the linkage, at the centre of recent cutting-edge studies, between the rampant ascendancy of neoliberal economic policies and the end of the Soviet experiment between the 1970s and the late 1980s.
