Abstract
Following the birth of the Italian State, a new balance emerges between the «political field» and the «literary field». The climate of social pedagogism created by the ruling parties is counterbalanced by the collapse of Romantic illusions, which the uncertain outcome of the Third War of Independence produces in the collective imagination. The needs of the economy carve out an ever more consistent space and, starting with Sonzogno’s journal «Il Secolo», the literary system undergoes a gentrification process that soon involves even writers extraneous to the dominant ideologies.File in questo prodotto:
