In this paper I approach a number of works by Lin Zhaohua - China's most influent stage director for decades - from the perspective of "theatre translation". After exploring, what "theatre translation" actually implicates in the specific context of Lin Zhaohua's work and contemporary Chinese theatre, I focus on Romulus the Great, a production from 1992. Discussing both the literary translation of Dürrenmatt's text and the translation for the stage, as well as texts and contexts of translation, I hope to show that "theatre translation" can open new fields for studying Chinese theatre.

Abstract
In this paper I approach a number of works by Lin Zhaohua - China's most influent stage director for decades - from the perspective of "theatre translation". After exploring, what "theatre translation" actually implicates in the specific context of Lin Zhaohua's work and contemporary Chinese theatre, I focus on Romulus the Great, a production from 1992. Discussing both the literary translation of Dürrenmatt's text and the translation for the stage, as well as texts and contexts of translation, I hope to show that "theatre translation" can open new fields for studying Chinese theatre.File in questo prodotto:
