In recent years, the themes of biodiversity and climate change have emerged as crucial issues in the contemporary political landscape. This study looks at the presence and impact of the terms biodiversié and changement climatique in the discourse of politicians during the 2022 French presidential election campaign, specifically on the social network Twitter – now X – which represents a “counter-public space” in the contemporary media landscape. By analyzing the tweets of the main candidates in this presidential election, we will be able to understand, through these condensed messages, the importance of these issues in their political discourse and the semantic value attributed to these terms within the conceptual networks specific to each candidate.

Abstract

In recent years, the themes of biodiversity and climate change have emerged as crucial issues in the contemporary political landscape. This study looks at the presence and impact of the terms biodiversié and changement climatique in the discourse of politicians during the 2022 French presidential election campaign, specifically on the social network Twitter – now X – which represents a “counter-public space” in the contemporary media landscape. Ces dernières années, les thèmes de la biodiversité et du changement climatique ont émergé comme des enjeux cruciaux dans le paysage politique contemporain. Cette étude se penche sur la présence et l’impact des expressions biodiversité et changement climatique dans les discours des politiques durant la campagne électorale pour l’élection présidentielle française de 2022, spécifiquement sur le réseau social Twitter – aujourd’hui X – qui représente « un contre-espace public » dans le paysage médiatique contemporain. L’analyse des tweets des principaux candidats à cette élection présidentielle permettra de comprendre, à travers ces messages condensés, quelle importance ces questions revêtent dans leur discours politique et quelle valeur sémantique est attribuée à ces termes au sein des réseaux conceptuels propres à chaque candidat.
