AbstractThis contribution aims to emphasise certain lexical peculiarities that characterise Maylis de Kerangal’s novels, namely: the use of technical-scientific terminology and doc-umentary precision. The corpus analysis, which specifically includes three of the writer’s novels (Naissance d’un pont, Réparer les vivants and Un monde à portée de main), aims there-fore to demonstrate how the precise use of terms and the documentary style not only represent two distinctive features of Kerangal’s narrative but can also prove to be means for the creation of a literary work with a neo-realist vocation. In this sense, the choice to portray highly technical fictional frames, as well as the attention paid by the writer to the specialised lexicons and discursive practices of specific socio-professional categories, manifest a desire to offer a glimpse of the contemporary world and an interest in the real, such as to make Maylis de Kerangal one of the representatives of ‘Realism 2.0’ in contem-porary French literature.
