Medicine was among the disciplines that aroused great interest in Medieval Islamic world and in which Muslims excelled most. Sharing the same aim of medicine, philosophy was related to it to the point that the most outstanding Muslim physicians were also philosophers. On the other hand, the soteriological aim of philosophy made it suitable to the Islamic religion and to its project of spiritual safety for man. The present study aims to highlight the “healing” feature of the Islamic philosophy and faith, hinting at some of the most important authorities of the Medieval Islamic thought and medicine.
