The present essay aims to assess the efficacy of hermeneutical principles developed by Maksim Shapir and other scholars in describing the nature and pragmatics of zaum’ (transrational language) elaborated by Velimir Khlebnikov: zaum’ is a fluid, polymorphic language; the lexemes on which this language is built are polygaplological composites: they are dissected to infinity and, essentially, form a unified verbal sequence, continuous and indivisible.
