My speech will focus on a book by Gherasim Luca, entitled, La voici La voie Silanxieuse. This book, published posthumously in 1997, was born from the intersection of visual and linguistic forms of expression. This is a collection of “cube-manias” and “picto-poems”, in which a floating world of calligrams appears, Gherasim Luca uses the simplest element, that is, the dot. Through the multiplication of points, Luca lets lines, geometric shapes, letters and a few words appear, as if on a white page. The author aims to indicate the silence of the writing. The point represents the limit between word and silence, that is the link between silence and word. And only a faint echo of the event of writing will persist in the inscription itself, making the voice leak out of silence. Gherasim Luca does not introduce us only with this book, in the dimension of the preconstituted meaning, codified in an allusive sense, but he also brings us to meet the logic of the signifier which is at the basis of the concatenation of the letters and points. Starting from this significant chain of differential elements, it is possible to retroactively and historically identify subjective meanings that point to the personal and often traumatic events experienced by Gherasim Luca in Romania.
