This study contributes to the extant literature by examining the implications of air pollution stemming from increased traffic congestion associated with hosting mega-events. Employing an econometric analysis, the research documents the escalation of air pollution attributable to increased vehicular activity observed in Naples, Italy, during the G20 Ministerial meeting on the Environment, Climate, and Energy in July 2021. The findings presented herein enhance our comprehension of the associated costs incurred when hosting a mega-event of this nature in a metropolitan area characterized by a high density of private vehicular traffic, such as Naples.

Abstract
This study contributes to the extant literature by examining the implications of air pollution stemming from increased traffic congestion associated with hosting mega-events. Employing an econometric analysis, the research documents the escalation of air pollution attributable to increased vehicular activity observed in Naples, Italy, during the G20 Ministerial meeting on the Environment, Climate, and Energy in July 2021. The findings presented herein enhance our comprehension of the associated costs incurred when hosting a mega-event of this nature in a metropolitan area characterized by a high density of private vehicular traffic, such as Naples.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
