On 28 December 1967, Canadian radio aired the documentary The Idea of North, conceived and realised by pianist Glenn Gould. Synthesis of at least three subjects – documentary, music and drama –, it is just one example of the so-called «counterpoint radio» – of high artistic value – created by Gould himself: a ‘work of moods’, in which musical, technological, landscape and fantastic elements are inevitably intertwined with the aesthetic and executive ideals of the pianist and theorist.
