Abstract

This paper analyses a few passages of Quevedo’s "Sueño de la Muerte", which include references to the date of its writing that are only apparently contradictory. Manuscript witnesses of this satirical discourse and several contemporary documents erase all doubts about the context in which the dialogue between don Francisco and the Marquess of Villena, the famous necromancer, was conceived.
