Chapter 13. Hodeida: Catalogue of the intra-moenia buildings

The catalogue includes 151 entries covering all the historic buildings — both civil and religious — located within the intra-mœnia city of Hudayda, documented during two missions carried out in the 1990s by L’Orientale under the direction of Maria Vittoria Fontana. Each entry provides a detailed description of the architectural features, followed by the decipherment of the inscriptions. The significance of the catalogue also lies in the fact that almost all of these buildings have since disappeared.
