The chapter presents the results of research carried out within the framework of a Marie Skłodowska-Curie project on the Abbey of Saint-Médard de Soissons. Through a comparative analysis with other European sites, it examines the organisation of spaces devoted to worship and devotion, as well as the distinctions between areas intended for pilgrims and those reserved for aristocratic groups and the royal court, with particular reference to the Carolingian period.
