La ceramica cinese oltre la Cina

The paper illustrates the results of the project carried out during the East Asian Archaeology course of the OrSa School of Specialisation in Archaeological Heritage, which led to the creation of a section named Vie della porcellana dedicated to trade with East Asia in the GoogleSite ArcheoUnior website. The project involved the creation of an interactive map using the MyMaps application, on which a number of sites were placed. The aim of the work was to shed light on the trade relations between the Arab world and China from the 9th century onwards via maritime trade routes. The study involved a selection and analysis of the previously published major ceramic classes from China found in the context of archaeological and underwater excavations. Through this study, it has been possible to highlight the changes and developments that affected these maritime routes over the centuries, the changes in the choice of ceramic classes exported and the refinement of ceramic production techniques marked, however, by great continuity in production traditions.
