The article deals with some architectural structures brought to light at the site of the Middle Kingdom harbour of Mersa/Wadi Gawasis (Red Sea, Egypt). Some comparisons with structures in the Nile Valley are proposed. Moreover, some features possibly related to the maritime function and setting of the site are stressed.
