Due sistemi a confronto. La famiglia nell’islam e nel diritto canonico

Knowledge of Islamic family law has now become essential due to the massive presence of Muslims in the West. Equally essential is the knowledge of the Canon law, since a fundamental provision of the Islamic law is that a male Muslim can marry a female Christian or Jewish, but not vice-versa. The book presents in an organic way the Islamic rules that govern the formation of the family, its internal regulation and the dissolution of the marriage contract. A similar analysis is also made with regard the creation of a family where both spouses are Catholic, or one of them is Catholic and the other belonging to another Christian denomination, or one of them is Catholic and the other belongs to a non-Christian denomination. The latter case is especially relevant when one of them, namely the groom, is a Muslim. A comparison of the Islamic family law and the Canon family law clearly shows the problems involved in inter-religious marriages.
