Amedeo Di Francesco: Hungary and Endre Ady ‘s predictions To Endre Ady (1877-1919) the Danube is the most certain witness of the Hungarian history and of the whole Central European one. To that river the poet entrusts his own confessions in a poem which is too often ignored by the literary critics, probably because of deep realism and cynical pessimism through which the destiny of the Hungarian nation is considered . The sad prophecy happens and the First World War will put an end to a “belle époque” which is often forgotten by the reality.
