The “most Ragusean” comedy of the Croatian playwright Marin Držić (Marino Darsa, Ragusa 1508- Venice 1567) is introduced in the context of the author’s production, underlining the relationships with classical theatre, with Humanistic-Renaissance culture and with 1500s Ragusean reality. Being able to interact both with tradition and contemporary society at His times, Marin Držić (Marino Darsa) is today worth of being defined as a “modern classic”.
