Abstract

The author is, in this article, dealing with the same concept of funerary monument in ancient Iran. The scarce archaeological evidence partially due to the strict Zoroastrian prohibition of the inhumation, makes the question particularly complex and difficult. This difficulty has made almost impossible an historical-archaeological recostruction of those monuments. Although prohibited funerary monuments are, nevertheless, present in Iran from protohistoric time to the historical: Arjan, Naqsh-i Rustam, Pasargade represent the typical exceptions, although still problematically discussed.
