The paper deals with the problem of interpretation in the W.V. Quine's Gedankenexperiment of radical translation. An original view of the principle of charity is proposed: this principle is increased by an empathic method in the interpretation of language and behaviour of speakers and agents. In this way Quine endorses a naturalistic and biological foundation of his theory of interpretation and empathy, so anticipating issues of the recent simulation theory of interpretation.
