The book is part is part of a project aiming at Huave/ombeayiüts language (spoken in San Mateo del Mar, Oaxaca, Mexico) socio-cultural continuity. The project is supported by the Salus Mundi Foundation and INALI (Instituto Nacional de Lenguas Indigenas). The book was thought as a way to encourage female practices of reading and writing in her own Indigenous language. The content is focused on female knowledge and practices of food preparations, with the purpuses of enhancing the socio-cultural and economic importance of everyday life female work, strengthening their identity. The book presents bilingual texts Huave/Spanish for more than 120 recepies. All the texts are original female oral productions on cultural transmission of knowledge on plants, animals, woods, and technics for preparation of foods and their recepies. It includes an extensive glossary of specialized terminology of food preparation, of taste and mell, edible plants from the bush. More than 25 women contributed to the recollection of recepies. The book was issued together with a CD of records of women reading the texts of their recepies, to motivate other women to read and write. In 2010 the book was distributed in San Mateo, in the context of a specially called communal assembly, where all the local authorities were present, together with a large people's participation. Subsequently, the book was distributed to the local first and second level schools so that at present it is available in most of San Mateo's residences. INALI distributed the book in others indigenous commuinities and Academic Institutions of Mexico.
