This paper deals with Ljungo Tuomaanpoika's law translations from the 17th century. He was one of the first law translators in Finland. The language of Ljungo's translations is based on his own Northern Ostrobothnian dialect, but there are also characteristics not typical of Ljungo's native dialect that can be considered as derived from the literary language which preceded him. The research material derives from a systematic analysis of the law translations in question and as a linguistic comparison has been used the facsimile of Ericus Erici Postilla (I,II, 1621, 1625).
