The paper deals with Keśavdās’s Jahāṁgīr Jas Candrikā, a panegyric of the Mughal Emperor Jahangir composed in 1612. Trying always to notice the standpoint of the author, who belonged to Hindu society restrained by Mughal domination, this study examines the main features of Jahangir’s Empire as they appear in the text: the capital city Agra, the worldwide boundaries of the reign, the praiseworthy members of the court, etc. Finally it comes to the Emperor’s figure, his political and military virtues, his clemency and liberality, without omitting some sharp hints to his excessive riches, comparing with such a poor people. Availing of the literary perspective, this paper aims to offer a new picture of such crucial political scenery in Indian history, which represented a moment of fusion between Hindu and Muslim traditions.

Abstract
Availing of the literary perspective, this paper aims to offer a new picture of such crucial political scenery in Indian history, which represented a moment of fusion between Hindu and Muslim traditions.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
