This article aims at presenting the unpublished documents preserved in the Paul Kahle Archive at the University of Turin regarding Volkserzählungen aus Palästina (1918-1930), a collection of tales that Kahle edited in collaboration with Dschirius Jusif (in Ar. Ǧiryus Abū Yūsif Manṣūr), a Palestinian teacher at the Lutheran school in the Muristān of Jerusalem, and the German theologian Hans Schmidt (1877-1953). It also seeks to reflect on the process of making a dialectological source, since Volkserzählungen aus Palästina is at once similar and different from other collections of Arabic folk tales published in the first half of the twentieth century.

Abstract
This article aims at presenting the unpublished documents preserved in the Paul Kahle Archive at the University of Turin regarding Volkserzählungen aus Palästina (1918-1930), a collection of tales that Kahle edited in collaboration with Dschirius Jusif (in Ar. Ǧiryus Abū Yūsif Manṣūr), a Palestinian teacher at the Lutheran school in the Muristān of Jerusalem, and the German theologian Hans Schmidt (1877-1953). It also seeks to reflect on the process of making a dialectological source, since Volkserzählungen aus Palästina is at once similar and different from other collections of Arabic folk tales published in the first half of the twentieth century.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
