On 20 dec. 2012 the General Assembly of the United Nations has adopted the Resolution A/RES/67/146 on "intensifying global efforts for the elimination of female genital mutilation". This resolution is a success that can be attributed to the joint efforts of Italy and African States that together have won what can undoubtedly be called a great battle of rights in the name of girls and women.
