Bakhtin's notion of chrontopos, understood as a cognitive concept as well as a feature of narrative itself (Wodak, Rheindorf 2017: 20), provides a concise conceptual framework for analysing the complex interplay between references to a broader cultural context and shared knowledge, to collective memories of events, personal experiences, and to the here and now of the interview situation that characterises the interviews in the Israel Corpus. There, the narrators repeatedly address anti-Semitic experiences, which are often in the context of symbolic spatial markers with anti-Semitic content. In quite a few cases, these experiences lead directly to migration and are remembered as fractures in life history, which is why they can be described as chronotopos of the crisis or turning point in life (Bakhtin 20174: 186). The present study, which selects Christine Hecker's interview with the commercial artist Franz Krausz from the research corpus compiled in Häußinger (2023), focuses in its detailed linguistic analysis on the complex interplay between the chronotopoi invoked as well as on the contribution that orientation in time and space makes to the positioning of self and other on the part of the narrator. Der Bachtinsche Chrontopos-Begriff, verstanden als kognitives Konzept wie auch als ein Merkmal des Erzählens selbst (Wodak, Rheindorf 2017: 20), stellt einen griffigen, konzeptuellen Rahmen bereit, um das komplexe Zusammenspiel zwischen Referenzen auf einen umfassenderen kulturellen Kontext und gemeinsame Wissensbestände, auf kollektive Erinnerungen an die Ereignisse, persönliche Erfahrungen und Erlebnisse sowie auf das Hier und Jetzt der Interviewsituation zu analysieren, das die Interviews des Israelkorpus auszeichnet. Dort thematisieren die Erzähler_innen wiederholt antisemitische Erfahrungen, die häufig im Kontext mit symbolischen Raummarkierungen antisemitischen Inhalts stehen. In nicht wenigen Fällen führen diese Erlebnisse unmittelbar zur Migration und werden als lebensgeschichtliche Brüche erinnert, weshalb sie als Chronotopos der Krise oder des Wendepunktes im Leben (Bachtin 20174: 186) beschrieben werden können. Die vorliegende Studie, die aus dem in Häußinger (2023) erstellten Untersuchungskorpus das Interview von Christine Hecker mit dem Werbegraphiker Franz Krausz auswählt, fokussiert in der linguistischen Detailanalyse das komplexe Wechselspiel zwischen den aufgerufenen Chronotopoi sowie den Beitrag, den die Orientierung in Zeit und Raum für die Selbst- und Fremdpositionierung seitens des Erzählers leistet.
